My research interests concern rapid evolution and local adaptation of aquatic organisms in response to anthropogenic disturbance. I am specifically interested in how fishing, dams, and climate change alter evolutionary trajectories in widely distributed game fish such as smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieu). At Cornell, I use molecular genetics and phenotypic approaches to understand the speed and direction of evolutionary change in response to anthropogenic pressure.
